Project Detail:
Sandakan is the site of the World War 11 Prisoner of War Camp. From this point the infamous death marches to Ranau began in 1945. Of 2400 Australian and British servicemen only six survived.  This site features little of the original camp.

Overview:
Phase 1 a commemorative pavilion, an interpretive trail and a memorial were designed and constructed.

Phase 2 saw significant site rehabilitation works, replacement of all interpretive signage, an audio visual program, new access walkway and a new dedicated RSL Memorial were constructed.
